Agency says launch of 3rd runway at Sheremetyevo delayed to Mar

MOSCOW, Oct 30 (PRIME) -- The launch of the third runway at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport has been delayed until March 2019, the Federal Air Transport Agency’s Director Alexander Neradko told reporters Tuesday.

“In fact, the third runway is already in branded concrete, but we have yet to install radio equipment, lighting facilities. The bulk of work will be done this year, we will probably take off from this runway in March of next year,” Neradko said.

The third runway has been under construction since 2011 and was initially expected to be launched in 2017.

During construction of the runway, the agency had to relocate the main pipelines, which took around two years, he also said.

“Now, this issue has been solved, it has been agreed on with the management of Gazprom, Transneft,” he said.
